Great selection of different breads, rolls, cakes etc.
My favorites are the pretzel rolls, cheesy pretzels and the streuselkuchen!
Lots of authentic German baked items.
The owner is super friendly as well and always up for a chat in German.

Wirklich klasse! Ich komme sehr gerne vorbei - ein kleines Stück Heimat mitten in Schottland. 🙂

Lovely family run bakery. Everything here is amazing. Not too sweet like most places where everything is just sugary.
I love their cheese pretzels, anything with custard and the marmalade brioche loaf to name just a few.

Friendly German baker in quaint shop which sells all manner of hand made cakes, pastries and bread. The almond croissant is probably the best you will ever taste in your lifetime. Reasonably priced. The coffee is also very good. Queues form at various times of the day. Highly recommend.

A better atmosphere and chat may not exist! That plus being surrounded by the best smells from their amazing baked goods. Highly recommend!

Omg the cheese and salami savoury pretzels are fantastic, love them and the pudding pretzels are sweet but not sickly, both are pretty filling too. The quiche is also very good, full of flavour and generous fillings. A nice Friday lunchtime treat. Things sell out fast so go early. Great addition to the local area.

Really tiny bakery that i walked past it loads of times while searching for it usuaing Google Maps.

I made a few attempts to visit but was always unlucky till today. And totally not disappointed. Very good price for fresh bakes

And just so you know I'm extremely fussy about my pastries. And I've lived in Berlin & Zurich (as well as visited other oarts of Germany throughout to years due to work and friends) hence i have an understanding of German bakery.

I agree with the reviews that I just read (in German) - the location is the closest to a bakery that I always remember from my childhood in Germany - where a lot of the Bavarian culinary culture of breadmaking and Semmeln and Pretzels seems to have diminished in recent years; it is delightful to find a place where you see everything made and done with passion and the quality of the products is solid. It is fun. I wish Frau Stoertebaeker and her family all the best!

First time visiting after 18 months of living down the road. Great food. Very pleasant experience and a well-needed change from the usual hostility and non-existent customer service of so many local Scottish businesses around Edinburgh.
